About Pepa Molina

Pepa Molina is an internationally acclaimed first-generation Sydney Flamenco artist with Andalusian heritage whose career spans over three decades, performing across Europe, Asia, the USA, South America, and Australia. Pepa is celebrated for her powerful artistry and for pioneering Flamenco's growth within Australia's multicultural arts landscape.

She is the CEO, founder, and Artistic Director of Compañía Pepa Molina Inc. (CPM), Australia's only not-for-profit dedicated to Flamenco and Spanish culture. Through CPM, Pepa has created a significant body of original works that have toured nationally and internationally.

Her productions have been supported by leading institutions including Create NSW, Form Dance Projects, Instituto Cervantes Sydney, the Embassy of Spain, Junta de Andalucía, Comunidad de Madrid, and Cumberland Council.

Touring highlights include major international festivals such a; Milan Flamenco Festival, Harrogate International Music Festival, Festival Emotion at Birmingham Town Hall, Flamenco Empírico in Barcelona, International Music & Dance Festival Granada, Veranos de la Villa in Madrid, Toulouse Flamenco Festival, the Blue Note Café in Tokyo, El Flamenco Osaka, Hampton Court Festival in the UK, the Lisner Theatre in Washington D.C & Sydney Festival.

Alongside her productions, Pepa directs the Western Sydney-based Flamenco ensemble Las Flamenkas, which she founded in 2017. The ensemble has performed widely across NSW, collaborating with festivals, councils, and arts organisations to mentor and showcase emerging Flamenco artists. Recent highlights include FlamencoBITS, Las Flamenkas with Live Music, and A Taste of Spain for Sydney Festival 2025. She has also collaborated with Dance Makers Collective on cross-disciplinary works such as Homebodies (2021), Woman's Work (2023), and All In (Sydney Festival 2025).

Her early career included performing internationally with legendary Flamenco artists such as Rafael Amargo, Paco Peña, Manolete, Juan Andrés Maya, La Mariquilla, Los Losadas, Arrieritos and the Pan American Symphony Orchestra (USA). She toured extensively across Europe, Asia, and the Americas, performing at prestigious venues such as the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow, Flamenco Biennale in Seville, Festival de Jerez, Spoleto Festival Italy, and Forum of World Cultures, Mexico, amongst others. She has also performed at Spain's emblematic tablaos, such as La Reina Mora, Los Tarantos, Jardines Neptuno (Granada), Corral de la Pacheca, Corral de la Morería, Casa Patas, Las Carboneras, Las Tablas, Zyraib, Teatro Flamenco (Madrid), El Cordobés (Barcelona), and El Flamenco (Osaka, Japan).

Pepa has facilitated masterclasses and workshops in more than 25 countries, including in Spain's most prestigious centres of Flamenco, such as Amor de Dios (Madrid), Conservatorio Casa Patas (Madrid), Escuela Antonio Canales (Madrid), and Carmen de las Cuevas (Granada). In Australia, she has taught for Sydney Dance Company, NIDA, MacDonald College, Arts Unit NSW, and various cultural programs and universities.

Her contributions to Flamenco and dance have been widely recognised. She received the Dance Australia Critic's Choice Award (2016) for "Most Interesting Artist" for Bush Bailando, was a three-time Australian Dance Award nominee (2017–18) and was shortlisted for Services to Dance in 2018 for "bringing a real sense of Flamenco to Australia." She was also nominated for the MAX Awards in Spain for Ay Pepa (2012) and the Women of Western Sydney Arts Award (2025).

In addition to her artistic practice, Pepa contributes to arts governance and community leadership. She serves on the Board of Form Dance Projects Inc., is on the Advisory Committee for Culture and Events with Cumberland Council and is a trained graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Director's Governance Foundations program.

An official Ambassador of the Escuela de Flamenco de Andalucía (EFA) for Australia and Asia since 2017, Pepa sits on the international examination panel and facilitates the official EFA Flamenco syllabus, which operates across more than 36 countries. She also directs the Pepa Molina Flamenco Dance Academy in Sydney, training a vast number of students annually across all levels, creating pathways for the next generation of Flamenco practitioners in Australia.

Pepa's academic training includes a Diploma of Fine Arts (National Art School, Sydney), Spanish Dance Certification (ACADE, Madrid), and further professional studies in digital transformation and fundraising for the arts. Passionate about preserving and evolving Flamenco as a UNESCO World Heritage Artform, Pepa Molina continues to bridge cultures, empower artists, and create works that celebrate the transformative and unifying power of dance.
